When I first created my personal website on Tripod in the early years of the new millennium, I had no grand vision of building a media ecosystem. I was not thinking about digital branding, content creation, social media, podcasts, or YouTube channels. I simply wanted a place on the internet that I could call my own.

At a time when internet access was still a novelty in many parts of India, personal websites represented a unique opportunity. They were digital homes where individuals could present themselves to the world without depending on traditional publishers, newspapers, or institutions. The internet was smaller, simpler, and perhaps more personal.

It was in this environment that manojambat.tripod.com was born.

The Tripod Years

The first version of the website was modest by today's standards. It featured basic navigation, simple layouts, and straightforward content. There were sections about me, my legal career, my family history, and links to other resources that I found meaningful.

The website was not intended to be a commercial venture. It was a personal project. It reflected my interests, my profession, and my roots.

One of the defining features of the later versions of the site was the Robert Frost quotation prominently displayed on the homepage:

"Two roads diverged in a wood and I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference."

Looking back today, I realize that this quote unconsciously became the guiding theme of my professional and personal life.

As an advocate, I often chose unconventional paths. As a writer, I preferred independent publishing. As an internet user, I embraced online platforms long before many professionals in my field considered them important.

The website itself became a living archive of that journey.

Preserving Family History

Unlike many personal websites of the era, my site was not focused solely on professional achievements.

I devoted significant space to documenting the histories of the Ambat and Ankarath families. These sections represented an effort to preserve heritage and memory for future generations.

Long before genealogy websites became popular, I was already attempting to create a digital repository of family history.

In many ways, these pages reflected a deeper motivation that would later influence much of my work: the belief that knowledge should be preserved and shared.

The Blogging Revolution

The emergence of blogging platforms transformed the internet.

In 2008, I expanded my online presence through Blogger. What began as a personal writing platform gradually evolved into a significant repository of articles and commentary.

Over the years, the blog attracted millions of readers and became one of the most successful phases of my digital journey.

Blogging allowed me to move beyond static webpages and engage with current events, ideas, and public discourse. It introduced my work to a far larger audience than the original Tripod site could ever have reached.

Yet the spirit remained the same.

Whether through a personal homepage or a blog, the objective was unchanged: to communicate ideas and preserve knowledge.

The Rise of Social Media

The internet changed rapidly.

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and countless other platforms emerged. Personal websites were no longer the center of one's online identity.

Many people abandoned their websites entirely.

I chose a different path.

Rather than replacing my website, I used social media to complement it. The website remained the anchor while social platforms became distribution channels.

This distinction would later prove valuable.

Algorithms changed. Platforms rose and fell. Trends came and went.

A personal website remained under personal control.

The lesson was simple: build on rented land if necessary, but always own your home.

A New Chapter: Strategic Vanguard

The most significant transformation began in 2024 with the launch of Strategic Vanguard.

What started as an interest in strategic affairs, defence, geopolitics, and military technology evolved into a dedicated content platform.

The project expanded beyond articles into podcasts, videos, newsletters, and social media engagement.

For the first time, content creation became a structured and long-term undertaking rather than a personal hobby.

Strategic Vanguard marked a shift from individual publishing to institution building.

The Emergence of Ambat Media Group

As Strategic Vanguard grew, it became clear that a broader ecosystem was emerging.

Additional initiatives followed, including:

• Indic Eternum

• ManojAmbat.in

Together, these projects formed the foundations of what would become the Ambat Media Group.

Although each platform focuses on a different domain, they share a common purpose: the creation, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge.

In retrospect, the seeds of this vision were present even in the earliest versions of the Tripod website.

The End of an Era

In 2025, after nearly two decades of service, the contents of the Tripod website were migrated to manojambat.in.

The migration marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Soon afterward, Tripod itself disappeared from the internet, joining a long list of pioneering web services that helped shape the early digital age.

Fortunately, archived snapshots preserved by the Wayback Machine ensure that pieces of the original website remain accessible.

Those preserved pages are more than technical artifacts.

They are reminders of a different internet—an era when personal websites were built page by page, link by link, and idea by idea.

Looking Back

The journey from a simple Tripod homepage to a modern media ecosystem was never planned.

There was no master strategy in 2004 or 2006.

There was only curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to experiment with new technologies.

Yet when viewed from a distance, a clear pattern emerges.

The objective has always been the same.

To write.

To preserve.

To educate.

To share knowledge.

The platforms changed.

The technology changed.

The audience changed.

But the mission remained remarkably constant.

Today, as I continue building Strategic Vanguard, Ambat Legal Insight, Indic Eternum, and the broader Ambat Media ecosystem, I often think back to those early webpages created on Tripod.

They remind me that every journey begins with a single step.

And sometimes, choosing the road less travelled really does make all the difference.
